Commissioned by Jamie Clark as part of the "Hear Her Voice" commissioning project

gratia plena is about the complex feelings prompted by strong and bittersweet memories during pandemic isolation. Many of us have experienced loss since March 2020, and the strangeness of grieving and remembering without the social and spiritual rituals that usually mark death. Memories of people I mourned were sharper, and more likely to suddenly flood my consciousness, while in isolation. Though fleeting, the strong sense of presence and connection that accompanied these heightened memories gave them a kind of grace.

gratia plena is lovingly dedicated to the memory of Mary Helen Barnes Eschman.
